Now the hills begin in earnest. For a mile or so the road is flat enough. You pass through the tiny village of Mountain Glen, cross the creek bed, and in front of you is a gut wrenching climb up to the town of Cobden. The hill has one of those "false tops" that can lull you into a false sense of achievement.

As you enter Cobden you will find that the town goes all out to welcome the relay runners. The exchange is in the middle of town, amid a bustle of activity.

Note that in Cobden the team vehicles take a different route from the runners. You'll meet up again at the exchange.
